Hausar Baka

To teach beginning and intermediate-level Hausa, Russell Schuh uses video clips of every day interactions filmed in Kano, Nigeria, in 1996.

Entitled Hausar Baka, the video segments include domestic interactions as well as a tour through Daura, the site where, according to legend, the seven Hausa tribes originated.

They were produced with the support of a grant from the US Department of Education and in conjunction with the World of Languages Studio in Windsor, California.

Schuh uses question and answer activities, translation exercises, cultural lessons, and mp3 audio exercises to supplement his videos.
