The event will open with an introduction by Dora Magaña, a local poet. Carlos Ernesto García then will be speaking about his losses during the Salvadoran civil war and his exile in Spain.
Reading and Q&A will be in Spanish.
About poet:
Carlos Ernesto García is the author of numerous books of poetry including; Hasta la cólera se pudre (Barcelona, 1994), A quemarropa el amor (Barcelona, 1996); La maleta en el desván (Jaén, 2009); Antología: Poesía de la diáspora (El Salvador, 2009) y, de la antología, Unë nuk kam shtëpi (Albania, 2010). In 2013, his poetry was adapted for the theater by the U.S. company Guacamolink Performing Arts , under the title “De amor, locura y muerte” and has been performed in Catalonia and most recently in the “Teatro Soy” of Broadway , New York. His poetry also been published in magazines and newspapers from various countries, has been translated into several languages : English , Chinese, French, Dutch, Italian and Albanian. Also in 2013, he published his anthology "“Poemas de amor, locura y muerte” that was presented at various universities in El Salvador Currently Argentinian film director Laureano Clavero is working on the preparation of a film inspired by Carlos Ernesto Garcia experiences of El Salvador in the late 70s. Since the late 1980s Garcia resides in Barcelona (Spain).

Parking Information: The closest parking lot is Structure #3. Visitors may purchase daily parking permits (Currently $12) by stopping at the Information & Parking kiosks (cash only) or by using a "Pay by Space" pay station. The closest information booth to Structure #3 is located on Hilgard and Charles E Young Drive N. To use a Parking Pay Station: Simply drive to a self-service Pay Station location (there is one located in Structure #3). Please read the posted signs and screen prompts for Pay by Space.
