The Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies offers grants and fellowships to UCLA faculty, UCLA graduate and undergraduate students, and postdoctoral researchers with an interest in the field of Israel Studies.
UCLA graduate student grants for $2,500-$7,500 are available to conduct research in Israel Studies during the academic year or the summer.
Applications are invited for this one-year fellowship for an outstanding UCLA graduate student with a scholarly interest in the field of Israel Studies. The fellowship carries an award amount of $8,000. Preference is given to first or second year Ph.D. students.
Applications are invited for this fellowship for UCLA undergraduate students. The fellowship is available for up to one year and carries an award amount of $500 per quarter. Preference is given to juniors and seniors.
Applications are invited for one-year postdoctoral positions related to Israel Studies that will begin in the Fall of each academic year. One or two fellowships may be provided each year, depending upon funding availability.
Grants of $3,000-$10,000 are available to UCLA faculty members for research projects that advance knowledge of modern Israel. Priority will be given to proposals that involve collaboration with Israeli academics. Projects with a substantial cross-cultural or comparative dimension are also encouraged.
Funding is available for UCLA faculty members interested in organizing conferences or symposia related to Israel Studies.
Grants of up to $5,000 are available to UCLA Faculty to develop and teach new undergraduate courses that advance knowledge of modern Israel.
We welcome course proposals that provide an interdisciplinary or comparative perspective, or that utilize Israel as a case study for a broader theme.
UCLA undergraduate student research grants are available to conduct research in Israel Studies during the academic year or the summer.
Travel grants of up to $1,500 are available to UCLA postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and undergraduate students for: (1) presentation of conference papers focused on Israel Studies or (2) Israel-related projects that require limited, site-specific research (e.g., archival research). Grant funds may be used to cover airfare, accommodation/hotel costs, ground transportation costs and for conference registration fees.
