Academic Programs
Interdepartmental degrees offered through the UCLA International Institute allow students to focus on a particular area of study - either a specific geographic area, or a global comparative and issue-oriented approach - through a variety of disciplines. Come Study the World with us.

Global Studies

The major and minor analyze the processes of globalization and their consequences through three lenses: Culture and Society, Governance and Conflict and Markets and Resources.

Major and Minor
International Development Studies

The IDS major addresses questions of the economic gap between developed and developing countries by analyzing cultural, political and economic realities of the developing world through an interdisciplinary lens.

International and Area Studies

The International Institute offers a variety of area studies majors and minors through the International & Area Studies Interdepartmental Program. The overarching goal of all of these programs is to address the need for students to have a broad understanding of the international nature of the modern world, and then apply that knowledge to a particular geographical region.
