Olli Hirvonen (b. 1989) is one of the rare Finnish musicians based in New York. After years of hard work to become one of the top young guitarists in the Helsinki jazz scene, he was chosen as the Artist of the Year of Pori Jazz, one of the highest awards for jazz musician in Finland. Then he decided he wanted more, and relocated to New York City in 2011, where his musical aesthetic broadened considerably. He delved into contemporary classical music, indie-rock and experimental electronic music, influences of which can be heard on his music. After six months in the city, he started his own ensemble with which he's been performing in NYC, Boston and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
