"As a drama student at the University of Exeter, I was able to join the ex-acting Theatre Company and take a show up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival--one of the largest arts festivals in the world! Anyone can take shows to the festival, but the fact that I was with a British Company made it a unique and exciting experience. Together with three other students, I devised an entire play, performed it, and received a four-star review--it was a fabulous once-in-a-lifetime experience that was only possible because of studying abroad."

Programs

The Education Abroad Program is the best study abroad option for most current UCLA students. EAP offers over 140 programs in over 30 countries. There are long-term, short-term and summer options for sophomores to graduate students. Plus EAP offers several options "In the Field" which allow you to do internships, independent research projects and field studies.

As the official University of California study abroad program, EAP offers you a number of advantages:

  1. You will automatically receive full, graded UC credit for all coursework you complete abroad through EAP, so you don't lose your class standing while abroad and you usually don't fall behind in the coursework needed for your degree.
  2. The cost for most programs is equivalent or lower than a year at UCLA.
  3. All financial aid that you currently receive applies to your time abroad, with the exception of work-study awards, which are usually replaced with an EAP scholarship or an increased loan.
  4. All programs are approved by the UC Academic Senate.

If you are not a current UCLA student, you are not eligible to go abroad through EAP. But don't miss out on the study abroad experience. Explore your other options through UCLA's EXPO Center and Summer Sessions.

The decision to live and study in another country will be one that influences your life in a number of extraordinary ways. One of the best ways to prepare yourself to take full advantage of the experience is to research and understand your program options and how your time abroad can complement your academic plans at UCLA.
