Sara Pilgreen received her BA in Psychology and Communications from University of Hawaii, Hilo, in 2004. She then went on to serve in the Peace Corps in the Republic of Vanuatu where she focused on gender and development while teaching English. Before entering the combined MSW/PhD program at UCLA, Sara completed her MA at Teachers College — Columbia University in clinical psychology. Over the summer, Sara participated in an international summer block placement in Johannesburg, South Africa working in the local government in the Social Assistance Program. Currently, Sara is in her second year of the MSW program and first year of the PhD program at Luskin School of Public Affairs.
