Leddet and Gena Greetings
An Eritrean student and instructor explains her holiday traditions to KTLA television.
Published: Tuesday, December 20, 2005Rahel Sahle Woldegaber, an Eritrean national, staffer at the African Studies Center, and UCLA graduate student and teaching assistant in International Development Studies, is scheduled to appear Dec. 24 in a KTLA television news feature about worldwide holiday traditions. Woldegaber discussed Leddet (Jan. 7, known as Gena in Ethiopia) and Timkat or Epiphany (Jan. 19) with Stan Chambers of KTLA at a Dec. 16 taping on campus. The January holidays mark the birth and baptism of Jesus.
