Outstanding Graduate Student Awards

UCLA Alumni Association


Since 1983, the UCLA Alumni Association has presented the Outstanding Graduate Student Awards to honor the achievements of distinguished graduate and professional degree candidates. Award recipients receive a life membership in the UCLA Alumni Association* and a $500 honorarium.

Award recipients will be honored at the annual Alumni Awards ceremony presented by the UCLA Alumni Association in Spring 2005. In order to receive the award, recipients must attend the ceremony.

General Criteria

Scholastic excellence at the highest level; creative academic contributions beyond degree or departmental requirements; exceptional service to UCLA; extra curricular service to the community.


A candidate for the award must expect to receive a graduate degree in fall 2004 or winter, spring or summer of 2005 and may not be a prior recipient of the award.



Application Process

You may submit your application online or download and mail a paper application, to be received by 5 p.m. on Jan. 13 to:

Please complete the entire application.
List activities in reverse chronological order. Indicate the average number of hours per week and the time spent on each activity. Include only those activities undertaken and awards received while a graduate student.
Between two and four letters of support are required. Letters written in support of other awards may be used, provided they are dated no earlier than Jan.1, 2004. Letters need not be confidential. Letters of support must be received by Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005. Please mail letters of support to address above.
