Olga Kagan, LRC Director Wins Book Award
Russian for Russians, the first textbook published in the U.S. for heritage learners of Russian, has won the 2004 book award for pedagogy from the American Association of Teachers of Slavic and Eastern European Languages (AATSEEL).

It has been cited for outstanding contribution to padagogy. Russian for Russians was written by Olga Kagan, director of the UCLA Language Resource Center, Tatiana Akishina of the University of Southern California and Richard Robin of the George Washington University. It was published by Slavica Publishers of Indiana University in 2002. The book cover was designed by one of the LRC work-study students, Elena (Helen) Korjavina.
