ANNOTATION

This book is a compilation of references related to military services during the war, mostly for junior level officers. The introduction was written by Rikichi Andō, the head of the Inspectorate-General of Military Training.

Chapter 8, Section 4., under Clause (2) ‘Removal of epidemics and stoppage of contagion’ specifies that: “Concerning venereal diseases, not only should aggressive measures be implemented to prevent them, but also the sanitary facilities in the comfort stations should be fully prepared; further, contacts between prostitutes and local people should be strictly forbidden, except with those [locals] designated by the military.”
