Join us as we celebrate the life and legend of Ustad Sabri Khan, a pioneer of the sarangi during both the 20th and 21st centuries. Sabri Khan, who died at age 88 in December 2015, is responsible for popularizing the sarangi on a global scale and for redefining it for the masses. A Padma Bhushan awardee (the third-highest civilian honor in the Republic of India), Sabri Khan’s name is synonymous with this astonishingly beautiful, and quintessentially Indian, classical instrument.

This tribute concert will feature two of Sabri Khan’s sons, Ustad Kamal Sabri on sarangi and Ustad Sarwar Sabri on tabla. Both are established musicians in their own right.

Ustad Kamal Sabri has been reinventing the art of sarangi playing and has inspired a new generation of sarangi players with his distinct style, mentorship, and dedication. 

Ustad Sarwar Sabri is an internationally renowned tabla player and composer whose versatility and passion for the rich diversity of the world's musical traditions has spurred him to constantly experiment with other world-class musicians and composers and to extend the boundaries of his own classical form.
