This past Friday [Apr. 27, 2007] AsiaMedia at UCLA made the James Bridges Theater in Melnitz Hall host to a screening of A World Of Conflict, a documentary by war journalist Kevin Sites. Sites was hired by Yahoo! News to conduct a year long journey around the globe to document stories from all the world's major conflict zones. He collected stories from regions that are often in the media, like Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as from locations like Sri Lanka and Kashmir that don't frequent newspaper headlines. The stories from these latter places were equally if not more compelling. The audience of roughly 100 was certainly overwhelmed by the tragedies depicted, and not without being made to think and reflect. There was a lively question
and answer session with Kevin Sites following the film. To find out more about Yahoo!'s sponsoring of "Kevin Sites In The Hot Zone" visit http://hotzone.yahoo.com. To find out more about AsiaMedia visit www.asiamedia.ucla.edu.
