Apply Now! 2025 Graduate Student Research and Conference Award

The Canadian Studies Program invites currently registered UCLA graduate students to apply for a small research/conference award to support either: 1. Research in Canada or, 2. Travel to Canada to attend a scholarly conference or workshop to present a talk or poster related to their field of research. All fields of study are open for support. Funding for research travel will be prioritized. Conferences that are by Canadian organizations, conferences with Canadian focus, presentations with Canadian content will be prioritized for conference funding. The award may be combined with other support such as graduate travel grants. UCLA travel accounting practices and regulations will pertain to these awards. Successful applicants will be expected to provide a one page synopsis of their activities and findings and a picture at the end of the award. One or more awards with maximum award amount of $1000 each will be provided in 2025.

 

Your online application needs to include:

  • your name, student number, department, degree program (Ph.D., MA, MSc etc) email.
  • a brief (one page) proposal (this will include research plan or conference info and may include a preliminary abstract for conference requests)
  • brief budget for use of the funds
  • short CV
  • copy of current UCLA transcript
  • short recommendation from your graduate advisor – copy of email from advisor is fine

 

Deadline for applications is December 13, 2024. Awards will be announced in January, 2025.
