Vali Nasr is a Professor at the Department of National Security Affairs, Naval Postgraduate School. His recent publications include Democracy in Iran (2006); The Shia Revival: How Conflicts within Islam will Shape the Future (2006); and The Islamic Leviathan: Islam and the Making of State Power (2001), among others. His works on political Islam and comparative politics of South Asia and the Middle East have been published numerous journals and edited volumes. He has written for The New York Times and the Washington Post, and has provided expert commentary to media, notably, CNN, BBC, National Public Radio, Public Radio International, New Hour with Jim Lehrer, CBS News and CBS 60 Minutes, and NBC Nightly News.
This lecture is part of the Center's Persian Lecture Series.
