FLAS Awards for Summer Cooperative African Language Institute (SCALI)
The Summer Cooperative African Language Institute (SCALI) takes place at a different institution every two to three years. In 2009, it will be at Michigan State University (MSU).
Students interested in participating in SCALI should fill out their expression of interest form to help them decide which languages they will offer and to secure instructors.
UCLA students are eligible for Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships from any of the Title 6 funded African Studies centers; a complete list is available on Michigan State University's website. UCLA students are particularly encouraged to apply for FLAS fellowships from the UC-Berkeley Center for African Studies and from Michigan State University.
For more information contact our African Languages Coordinator, Katrina Daly Thompson.
