Organized by Professor Gabriel Piterberg and the Center for Near Eastern Studies at UCLA, the conference will explore the ways in which settler societies have become the focus of much scholarly attention as the product of a distinct form of colonialism. The conference will examine this lingering connection between past and present from a variety of perspectives and within different disciplines such as history, sociology, literature, law and political theory.
