UCLA Graduate Students in African Studies and/or African Graduate Students:
 
Do you have Superior, Near-native, or Native proficiency in an African language?  Are you interested in a summer Teaching Assistantship in African Languages?  Fulfill position requirements now in preparation for Summer 2011 and beyond!
 
TAs in African Languages are required to have passed a course in language teaching methodology prior to applying for a position.  The required course, Applied Linguistics and TESL 495, is taught each Fall.  
 
If you have taken AP&TESL 495, please contact Dr. Katrina Daly Thompson to inquire about summer TAships.  Languages currently in demand are Swahili, Yoruba, Amharic, Tigrinya, Igbo, and Zulu, but graduate students with superior (or higher) proficiency in other languages are encouraged to inquire as well.If you have taken a different pedagogy course, please contact Dr. Thompson to discuss whether or not it meets departmental requirements.
