Nsg Music Studio Presents A Century of Filipino Musical Heritage

The NSG Music Studio Singers, a group of talented and award winning performers from the Philippines, will showcase “Musika ng Lahi,” Filipino music from the Spanish period to the present time, from the classical Kundiman to modern Pop music.  The concert will be held at the Garden Pavilion, Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International at 5930 Franklin Avenue, Hollywood, California 90028 on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 1:30 PM (Free Valet Parking).

The presentation is produced by NSG Music Studio, under the tutelage of Prof. Norma Sylvia Aquino-Garbanzos, B.M., M.A., Ph.D., and Arthur Madrigal, Musical Director.  The Chorale composed of 23 members includes twelve (12) soloists and seven (7) champions, backed by faculty and staff.

“The NSG Chorale was born at a time when the challenges posed by invitations (to perform in the US) were sent,” said Prof. Garbanzos, a graduate of the U.P. Conservatory of Music and the California State University of Long Beach.  “Through God's grace, we hope to bring the music of our country to Filipinos residing abroad who long to hear them.”

ABOUT NSG MUSIC STUDIO:
The NSG Music Studio was founded by Prof. Ma. Norma Sylvia A. Garbanzos in 1997 when she retired as Dean of the Secretarial Department of West Negros College.  What started as a humble studio in her home in Bacolod City has grown to be known as the Music Studio for Vocal Champions in both classical and pop music.  The school has produced thirty-nine (39) vocal champions in Music competitions like NAMCYA (National Music Competition for Young Artists), NOPSSCEA (Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural & Educational Association).  At present, it has relocated to its new venue at the RVS Building La Salle Avenue, accessible to students at the University of St. La Salle, St. Scholastica, St. John's Institute, Negros Mission Academy and other nearby schools in the area.  The faculty includes six piano and voice teachers and one guitar teacher. .
