2014-2015 Dissertation Fellowship Competition

The UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation is seeking applicants for their 2014-2015 Dissertation Fellowship Competition.

ABOUT THE AWARDS:

IGCC will award funds to graduate students in two categories.

Applicants may apply for both of the fellowships. ONLY ONE APPLICATION IS REQUIRED.

The review committee reserves the right to change fellowship categories for applicants who are deemed more suitable for consideration in the other competition.

 

1. Herbert F. York Global Security Dissertation Fellowships

This fellowship offers up to $18,000 in stipend. Doctoral students enrolled in the University of California, including J.D./Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., and M.D. with thesis, are eligible to apply for the IGCC Herb York Global Security Dissertation Fellowship.

- Awardees will have close collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

- Awardees are required, and their advisors are requested, to attend a symposium that will be held at LANL during the 2014-15 academic year. Travel expenses will be covered by the labs.

- Awardees will be eligible for consideration to conduct research in Washington D.C. for up to four weeks. Housing and travel expenses will be covered by IGCC. Two opportunities are available.

- Awardees may have the opportunity to present at a policy briefing in Washington D.C. Travel expenses will be covered by IGCC. 

Applicants must advance to candidacy by June 30 of the application year to receive funding. U.S. citizenship is not required.

 

2. IGCC Dissertation Fellowships

This fellowship offers up to $18,000 in stipend. Doctoral students enrolled in the University of California, including J.D./Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., and M.D. with thesis, are eligible to apply for the IGCC dissertation fellowship.

Applicants must advance to candidacy by June 30 of the application year to receive funding. U.S. citizenship is not required.

Please note that the funding for these fellowships is contingent on availability of funds. IGCC will not have confirmation of funding until June 2014.

The competition is open to Doctoral students enrolled in the University of California, including J.D./Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., and M.D. with thesis. The application tool will open the first week of January and the deadline for applying for these fellowships is February 10, 2014.
