Where to Send Aid to for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean

The UCLA Program on Caribbean Studies recommends the following two sites for contributions to disaster relief in Puerto Rico:


"Defend Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fund," hosted on the You Caring Compassionate Crowdfunding site. This fund specifically targets low-income communities and communities of color.

"United for Puerto Rico Fund" organized by the first lady of Puerto Rico in collaboration with the private sector.

For disaster relief efforts in the Caribbean more generally, try:

At the "Global Giving" site, select "Puerto Rico & Caribbean Hurricane Relief Fund," or search for "Hurricane Irma" or "Hurricane Maria" to find a specific, targeted fund.

 

Additionally, Vilma Ortiz and Ariana Valle from the UCLA Department of Sociology prepared a list of organizations providing assistance to Puerto Rico and the other countries affected by the hurricanes. The PDF is provided below.
