The recent rise of nationalist politics demands that we, as a global society, reexamine our collective values, priorities, and aspirations for the future we hope to build and what we believe to be fundamental human rights. As norms and ideologies shift, what is the process for expanding our view of human rights? Are nationalism and a more expansive understanding of human rights mutually exclusive? How should we respond to violations in other countries? Graduate students of all disciplines are encouraged to submit work on the meaning, purpose, and pursuit of human rights throughout history and implications for our future as a community of global citizens.
