Mir H. (Hekmat) Sadat has institutional affiliations with The Claremont Graduate University and San Diego State University.  His research interests include Islam and the West, militant Islam and terrorism, ethnic and regional conflict, and civil-military affairs.  His doctoral research focused on Afghanistan and the Afghan Diaspora, as model for understanding issues facing Diasporas and their homeland especially in post-conflict times.   Dr. Sadat has taught at Pitzer College and has been a Lecturer at the Naval Postgraduate School, where he taught on Afghan history and culture, as well as on issues such as cultural sensitivity, respect for Islam, treatment of civilians, and application of human rights to non-Americans.
