A lecture by Steven Salaita, Indigenous Studies Scholar, with introductions by Robin D.G. Kelley (Dept. of History, UCLA) and Saree Makdisi (Depts. of English, Comparative Literature, UCLA).

This talk will explore the imagery of Palestine in the American imagination, offering a broad historical context for the strong relationship between Israel and the United States. Salaita will analyze the influence of this Holy Land imagery on Native American communities and the current marginalization of decolonial imperative in academe.

Steven Salaita is author of six books, most recently Israel's Dead Soul.
