Janell Rothenberg is a Ph.D. student in the UCLA department of Anthropology where she focuses on cultural anthropology. Janell's current research interests involve the globalization and economic development of the ports and shipping industries along the northern Moroccan coast. Her most recent awards include the 2011-2012 National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant, Science, Technology and Society Program and the 2010-2011 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship, US Dept of Education.
She was also the recipient of a 2008-2009 and a 2009-2010 Academic Year Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship in Arabic.
