The UCLA Division of Humanities, co-sponsored by the Center for Chinese Studies and the East Asian Library, is hosting a Special Event celebrating the Double 30th Anniversary of the American-Chinese Film Media Academic Exchange Film. A special session of celebration and reception will be held at the UCLA Faculty Center (Sequoia & California Room) in the afternoon of February 21, 2014 (Friday). You are cordially invited to the event.
UCLA, long a home for fruitful exchange programs with academic institutions around the world, made a crucial contribution to the study and development of Chinese film in 1983, with the inauguration of a program that brought together American and Chinese film scholars and filmmakers. The specialized classes and public screenings offered on campus that year led to a highly influential series of lectures in China during the following years and helped film scholars from both countries deepen their understanding of contemporary film studies which influenced the field for many years since then. Now, thirty years later, we come together to celebrate the successes of past collaborations and to further promote cultural and scholarly exchanges between UCLA and China in the 21st century.”
