The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to “increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.” With this goal as a starting point, the Fulbright Program has provided almost 310,000 participants with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.
 
All Disciplines (Partial Maintenance)
Grant Activity: Teach, conduct research or do a combination of both with major funding from another institution or program.

Grant Activity: Conduct research in applicant’s field of specialization.

Arts, Education, Humanities, Professional Fields, and Social Sciences (Teaching):
Grant Activity: Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the area of specialization. Teaching loads range from three to 12 hours per week. Grantees may also be asked to serve in other capacities, such as thesis adviser, tutor, or editor, and assist with curriculum development, practical training, conference organization, public lectures, seminars, or research collaboration.

Cross-Strait Studies
Grant Activity: Conduct research in area of specialization on an issue concerning the relationship between mainland China and Taiwan. Projects should focus on contemporary topics. Applicants are encouraged to contact program staff to discuss their proposed research before applying.

Arts, Education, Humanities, Professional Fields and Social Sciences (Postdoctoral Research)
Grant Activity: Conduct postdoctoral research and/or collaborate with Taiwanese academic and research institutions. Activities may include presenting lectures, seminars and workshops as arranged by the host institution.

The Taiwan Fellowship is established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to award foreign experts and scholars interested in researches related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, Asia-Pacific region and Chinese studies to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.
