Director Arvin Chen, born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1978, currently lives in Taipei in Taiwan. He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and studied architectural design at the University of California in Berkeley. After graduation, he went to Taipei as a trainee for the Taiwanese filmmaker Edward Yang before taking a masters in film production in the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. In 2006 his short film MEI won the Silver Bear at the Berlinale. His feature debut AU REVOIR TAIPEI screened in the Forum in 2010.
