UCLA Philharmonia makes its Disney Hall debut, performing a program of world music including the music of Regents' Lecturer and Mexican composer Arturo Márquez.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic presents: "Sounds About Town"

UCLA at Walt Disney Concert Hall, A Celebration of World Music

Featured will be the music of composer Arturo Márquez, Regents' Lecturer at the UCLA Department of Ethnomusicology and recent recipient of the National Award for the Arts in Mexico. In addition, the concert will include a performance with symphonic arrangements by Los Angeles’ own Grammy Award winning Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano (directed by Jesus Guzman, director of the UCLA mariachi program), as well as compositions by illustrious composers A.J. Racy and James Newton, both faculty members of the UCLA Department of Ethnomusicology. A lecture by UCLA musicologist Elisabeth Le Guin with take place before the concert.

 

The UCLA Philharmonia is the flagship orchestra of the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.

Gan-Ru: Chinese Rhapsody
Newton: A Line of Immortality for jazz flute, piano trio and ensemble

UCLA Students: From now until 4 PM Friday, April 1, all UCLA students who purchase one or more tickets to this concert may receive one additional free ticket of equal value.
