'소셜미디어'의 등장으로 우리 주변의 커뮤니케이션 환경에 큰 변화가 일어나고 있으며, 이러한 커뮤니케이션 변화는 단순히 다른 사람들과 관계를 맺는 방식의 변화 뿐만 아니라, 정치·경제·사회 등 우리 생활 전반에 대한 패러다임 이동을 이끌고 있다.

무엇보다도 과거의 협소하고 제한적이었던 커뮤니케이션 방식이 개방·공유·참여의 형태로 바뀌면서, 일방향 커뮤니케이션이 지양되고 쌍방향 커뮤니케이션이 중심이 되는 사회로 변모하고 있다.
