A talk by INA ASIM (University of Oregon) in the Chinese Garden Lecture Series of the Huntington Library
Chinese scholars' gardens are deeply influenced by the elements of style developed by the Suzhou gentry for their personal retreats. Over time and in different locations the matrix of these elements has been altered through adaptations to local conditions and individual predilections. In her talk, Professor Asim will explore the grammar of style elements and the variations in the gardens of Yangzhou, Sichuan, and Lingnan.
