Campus to Community: The University's Role in Moral Education

The Fulbright Visiting Scholars Enrichment Program invites UCLA students, faculty, and community members to participate in an afternoon of thought-provoking discussion with Fulbright Scholars and alumni on the place of moral education in the university.

Participants will discover ways this is actually practiced at UCLA by learning to understand others through international educational exchange and service in the local and international community.

2:00- 2:30	Gathering- Coffee and Refreshments
2:20-2:30	Welcome and Introductions Ann Kerr-Adams
2:30- 3:00	“Can the University Supply Moral Education? Does it? Should it?” Keynote Speaker- Dr. Susanne Lohmann, UCLA Political Science Professor
3:00-4:30	World Café: Roundtable Discussions What is the Role of Morals in Academic Life? How should universities interact with society? How should universities contribute to understanding cultural diversity?
4:30-5:00	Coffee Break
5:00-6:00	Fulbright Seminar Demonstration: “Perspectives of America Abroad- Discussions with Visiting Fulbright Scholars” We will carry on a brief class session with a Fulbright speaker and student discussion and questions.  Audience may ask questions at the end.
