All day symposium offered by Sangam, a UCLA South Asian student organization.
SAYC is a day long event which aims to provide South Asian high school youth with an opportunity to discuss pertinent social and community issues with their peers, college students, and alumni. The event is also a chance to expose high school students to accomplished faculty and alumni who may share their relevant experiences and research. The theme of this years conference is identity, specifically "living in the hyphen."
The program will include a number of identity based workshops and discussions as well as small group mentoring sessions meant to encourage exploration of self and community. While we hope students enjoy their day with us on campus, they should leave with a better understanding of self as well as how they may participate and contribute to their communities – South Asian or not.
