A film by Daniel Filho.
São Paulo, 1958. Luisa, a hopeless romantic, is married to Jorge, an engineer working in the construction of Brasilia, the new Brazilian capital. While Jorge works in Brasilia, Luisa stays alone in São Paulo with the company of her two maids. However, she reencounters her cousin Basilio, her childhood love, who had returned from his journeys around the world.
The two cousins start to see each other constantly. But one of her maids, Juliana, notices and sees the love letters between Basilio and Luisa as an opportunity to secure her retirement.
Based on the classic novel by Eça de Queiroz.
