March 5-7
On March 5, 6, and 7 the UCLA Slavic Department and the City of West Hollywood are hosting the 2009 Russian Winter Festival.
This consists of:
Two nights at the Roxy by Russia’s biggest rock band, Mumiy Troll (March 5 and 6)
An entire day of new/subtitled Russian cinema March 7, from noon ‘till night). This is all free, and to be shown in the Bridges theater, UCLA’s most attractive movie venue. There will be 90 mins of new animation, including a cartoon just nominated for an Oscar. This will be followed by 90 mins of new Russian documentary films; and the Best Debut winner from Cannes 2008, by a young Russian director
This will also be accompanied by other events, such as a small fashion show and acoustic “bardic” performances between the films
