Director: Abdellatif Abdulhamid
Veteran Syrian director Abdellatif Adbulhamid takes us into the life of Zuhair, a lovable but conflicted middle-class man, as he navigates his way through this very unconventional love triangle. Zuhair’s best friend, Amer, has been imprisoned unjustly for 10 years. Out of loyalty, Zuhair takes on the responsibility of caring for his friend’s wife and daughter. Despite his attempt to balance the needs of his own wife at home with his adopted family, he begins to find more joy in the moments he spends at his home away from home. When Amer suddenly returns, Zuhair must come to terms with his feelings and, more importantly, choose between what he believes to be good and bad. This intimate and often playful feature offers a rare glimpse into the everyday life of one Damascus man.
Director: Youssef Britel (Morocco, 2007, 6 min.)
In this stylized, sci-fi short, Adil arrives late for an important meeting, and devises a tragic story as an excuse, only to see it become a reality.
