Karim Makdisi is an Assistant Professor of International Relations and International Environmental Policy at the American University of Beirut. His current research includes sustainable development policy; the exploration of the nexus between trade, environment, and sustainable development (and particularly its implications for the Arab region); the multidisciplinary investigation of how multilateral environmental treaties (MEAs) are implemented and complied with in developing countries; and the impact of globalization in developing countries.
