'Ibuka' Means Remember: Theodore Simburudali Remembers Rwanda

The Darfur Action Committee at UCLA presents a discussion about the Rwanda genocide by Theodore Simburudali, the president of Ibuka.

Ibuka is the umbrella organization in Rwanda representing the needs of the victims of the Rwanda genocide. Its name means "remember" in Kinyarwanda. Simburudali is recognized as a spokesperson for survivors of the Rwanda genocide. Hear firsthand about the events that took place in Rwanda in 1994, and the aftermath of the Rwanda genocide.

The Darfur Action Committee has always cited the Rwanda genocide as a recent genocide that the international community did not stop. In doing so, we have emphasized that, although we did not do anything about that genocide, we can do something now to stop the genocide in Darfur.
