Robin Moore is the author of Music and Revolution.  Cultural Change in Socialist Cuba (Berkeley:  University of California Press, 2006) and Nationalizing Blackness:  afrocubanismo and artistic revolution in Havana, 1920-1940 (Pittsburgh:  The University of Pittsburgh Press, 1997) which won the Gustave O. Arlt Award. He has studied African-derived music in Colombia, Brazil and Cuba and directs a Caribbean and a Mariachi ensemble. He is Associate Professor, School of Music, University of Texas at Austin.

This event is part of the Latin American Institute's Cuba-Caribbean Working Group.
