
Join us for an advanced screening of the film Rendition followed by a panel discussion about CIA renditions with Film Director Gavin Hood, Actor Yigal Naor, UCLA Burkle Center Director, Professor Kal Raustiala, and Burkle Fellow and author of Spying Blind: The CIA, the FBI, and the Origins of 9/11, Professor Amy Zegart about the film’s subject matter.
Film Synopsis: Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Meryl Streep, Peter Sarsgaard and Alan Arkin star in Rendition, a thriller from director Gavin Hood (Tsotsi). Witherspoon stars as the American wife of an Egyptian-born chemical engineer who disappears on a flight from South Africa to Washington. The woman desperately tries to track her husband down, while a CIA analyst (Gyllenhaal) at a secret detention facility outside the U.S. is forced to question his assignment as he becomes party to the man’s unorthodox interrogation. Rendition is scheduled for an October 19th, 2007 release.
