Choreographer Akram Kahn and ballerina Sylvie Guillem come together in the U.S. premiere of "Sacred Monsters"
From her days as Rudolf Nureyev’s protégé and star of the Paris Opera Ballet to her current reign as principal guest artist at the Royal Ballet, Sylvie Guillem has electrified the dance world with her virtuosity and dazzling elasticity. Among the world’s most celebrated ballerinas, she has scored memorable triumphs with gifted choreographers. In an exciting exploration of the boundaries between Indian classical kathak dance and ballet, Guillem joins renowned British Bangladeshi choreographer and dancer Akram Kahn performing both solos and duos, accompanied by live music. Rooted in creation stories and myths, “Sacred Monsters” examines the notion of male and female energies as forces in opposition and in harmony with one another.
