Gül Marshall is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Louisville. Her research and teaching interests are in the areas of gender, culture, social movements and mass media. She is currently doing research on the European Union's effect on gender policies in Turkey. Her most recent publication is “Ideology, Progress, and Dialogue: A Comparison of Feminist and Islamist Women's Approaches to the Issues of Head Covering and Work in Turkey,” Gender & Society 19, 1 (2005): 104-120.
