The February 23 conference commemorated the 40th anniversary of President Nixon's historic visit to Beijing and Shanghai and his meetings with Chairman Mao. It was sponsored by the UCLA Burkle Center for International Relations, the UCLA Center for Chinese Studies, and the UCLA Confucius Institute.
