Professor Katsuya Hirano from Cornell University is the first of UCLA's three finalist candidates for the Early Modern/Modern Japanese History faculty position. His talk, "A Critical Reflection on ‘Liberal Humanism’ in Japan’s Modernization," is open to the campus community. A reception will follow.
