West Coast Premiere Film Screening - Old Dog

UCLA Theater, Film, and Television (TFT) student group ELEVATE will present its inaugural international film series in May 2012.
On May 11th, 2012 at 5 PM, the James Bridges Theater will host the West Coast premiere of the film, Old Dog, with Tibetan director Pema Tseden in person for a post-screening Q&A.
About the Director
Tseden graduated from the Beijing Film Academy and Northwest University, having published more then forty novels and short fiction works in both Tibetan and Mandarin. Beginning his film career in 2002, his films include The Grassland (short feature), The Silent Holy Stone (feature), The Last Tibetan Weatherman (Documentary), Samye Monastery (documentary), Kathok Empowering Ceremony (documentary), The Search (feature), and Old Dog (feature). Tseden’s work reveals differing viewpoints and the spiritual core of a new Tibet, while engaging in a discussion of the conflicts between traditional Tibet and modern civilization. He is also the first director in China ever to make films in the Tibetan language.
