Dr. Bartholomew will discuss plant collecting expeditions to China and the botanical and horticultural research they inform. He was involved in the introduction of cultivars of Camellia reticulata into the U.S. in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Camellias form a major botanical collection at the Huntington, and are an important symbolic theme in the Chinese Garden.
