Asia in LA: Global Cities in Asia, Asia in the Global City

The first Asia in LA program brings together leading architects, designers, and UCLA faculty working in and on Asia.

Saturday, November 08, 2008
1:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Tom Bradley International Hall
UCLA Campus

Asia in LA is a community series that celebrates the ties between Asia and Los Angeles and highlights the work of UCLA faculty, students, and leaders in the local community that enriches our understanding of the people, cultures, and history of Asia. The afternoon will feature discussions by architects, urban designers, and UCLA faculty who will explore the design and use of space and the construction and preservation of identity, both in the Asian cities that are a part of today’s networks of people, goods, and ideas, and in the Asian spaces that are a vital part of the fabric of a global city such as Los Angeles. The conversation will be moderated by former KCBS news anchor Tritia Toyota, Adjunct Professor of Asian American Studies, UCLA.
