This profile of African Studies Center Director Françoise Lionnet looks at her upcoming presentation on historical and present-day migration and draws attention to the current phenomenon of African "boat people" — individuals from northern and western Africa in search of a better life who try to make the dangerous trip between the two continents in small boats.
