ABSENCES AND TARDIES: When taking a language class, attendance is crucial in order to practice and improve. Students are required to make up the work they miss if absent. If you expect to miss a significant portion of class time because of sickness or vacation, please speak to your teacher about how to make up work.
ACADEMIC CREDIT: Please note that although these courses are sponsored by and take place at UCLA, they are not college classes and do not have any college credit possibilities. Upon completion of the course, teachers will mail home a letter explaining the course with the student’s grade in a sealed envelope along with a certificate of completion. Students may choose to bring the sealed envelope containing their grade to their high school.
Granting the student a year of high school language credit is up to the student’s high school. If receiving credit is important to the student, we advise students to confirm with their guidance counselors that they are eligible for this credit before the beginning of summer.
ENROLLMENT: Enrollment for all heritage classes is open to high school students who have had some exposure to the target language via their family background or community. Students do not need to be able to read and write in the heritage language before enrolling. Please check the FAQs for more information about who is a heritage student. If you are still unsure whether these classes are right for you, please contact us at email@example.com. Additionally, for the beginning Russian class, enrollment is open to any high school student interested in learning these languages. Enrollment is first come, first serve. If a class fills, we will keep a waiting list.
FILMING RELEASE FORMS: Enrolled students will receive a welcome packet in the mail, including among other things a filming release form to complete. Please mail back this form or bring it on the first day of class. Students will not be allowed to participate in the class film if this form is not on file.
PAYMENTS: After you register online, a program representative will contact you via the email you provided on your registration form within two weeks to give you more course information. You will also be provided with a link to pay for the course online.
REFUNDS: We will refund 100% of your payment if you choose to withdraw on or before the first day of class.
