Gil Garcetti Presents Water is Key: A Better Future for Africa

The Friends of the Beverly Hills Library present Gil Garcetti, photographer and attorney, discussing his book about the importance of water in Africa. The evening will feature an exhibition of Garcetti's photographs, copies of his book for purchase, a book signing, and food for purchase at Kelly's Coffee and Fudge.

In the lush images in his fifth book, Water is Key: A Better Future for Africa, Gil Garcetti puts the reader on the front line of one of the world's most critical issues.  With their elegant profiles, warm smiles and distinctive costumes these portraits of life in West Africa are deceptively beautiful.  The images in this book do not all tell a positive story.  When safe water is available, entire village economies change and the lives of the inhabitants are transformed from disease and malnutrition to hope and success.

While many know Gil Garcetti from his "previous life" as the Los Angeles County District Attorney, Gil has spent much of his life as an urban photographer.  His work has been widely published and is the subject of several books.
